Klamath Falls City Schools is implementing the NES model at Ponderosa and Mills next year.
The NES model stands for the New Education System. It is a special plan used in some school districts (like Houston, Texas) to help schools improve and make sure every student gets a great education.
It is usually put into action at schools where students are struggling with their grades or need extra help.
Why is the NES Model Good?
Think of the NES model like giving a school a superhero upgrade. Here is why it works well:
Super-Supported Teachers: In regular schools, teachers have to spend a lot of time doing extra chores like making copies, grading paperwork, or building presentation slides. In the NES model, other helpers take care of those chores so the main teacher can focus 100% of their energy on teaching you.
The Best Teachers Get Extra Rewards: The model helps schools hire amazing, experienced teachers by paying them higher salaries to teach at the schools that need them the most.
Fun Specialty Classes: Students in NES schools get awesome elective classes, like fitness, music, fine arts, hands-on science, and computer technology.
"Art of Thinking" Class: Students get a unique class that teaches them how to be detectives with information. It teaches you how to solve tough real-world problems and think for yourself.
The Big Result: Because of these changes, schools using the NES model have seen students make massive jumps in their math and reading skills!
