This past week, Pelican Elementary School third grade instructor, Tara Gailis, and her class received a visit from author Kim Dawson. Gailis and her class are working on collaborating with Dawson on her new book “Watch Your Words,” which should be published this September.
Dawson has made a series of children's books, with the school mentioned in the book, being a representation of Pelican Elementary School. Dawson's books feature a Klamath Union High School graduate as its illustrator, Paige Anocibar, a KU graduate from the class of 2016.
Dawson made a surprise visit to Gailis' class to thank students for their feedback on her new book. Her social, emotional book series is also being adapted for an animated series as well.
Pelican third graders also took a field trip to Abby‘s pizza on Austin Street. Abby‘s was generous to allow third graders to tour the kitchen and facilities, as well as make their own pizza's for free.
